Colorado Mountain Golf
The sun is finally out up here in Tabernash and the golf courses are open. Pole Creek opened this season on May 15th but the first week or so was hampered by some classic Colorado spring mountain weather. This year promises to a great year for Pole Creek as this is the second year with the new club house and Bistro 28.
Have you been out to play the fine 27 up here in Tabernash? Well here is a little info on Grand County’s golfing pride and joy.
Pole Creek Golf Club is one of the few public 27-hole courses in Colorado and the only one in Grand County County Colorado. Pole Creek’s 7,107-yard course wanders through lush fields sporting native wildflowers, drastic elevation changes, vast bent greens and water challenge shots over two ponds and five lakes. The Ridge 9 course challenges experts to a rigorous game with 3,603-yard shots and tree-lined holes, while the more gentle Meadow 9 and Ranch 9 - accommodatesall playing levels. All three courses play to par 36.
Pole Creek’s design was conceived by Denis Griffiths, who incorporated existing lodgepole pine, valley meadows, sagebrush and a variety of water hazards including five lakes to create a diverse course appealing to a wide range of golfers.
The views at Pole Creek are some of the most spectacular you will see in all of Colorado.
So no that our winter is turning right into summer come on out and see what Pole Creek Golf Club has to offer high up here in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.

I was able to play Pole Creek Golf Club for the third time this year this past Saturday. My brother and his family had a weekend at their friends cabin over on Grand Lake and they made the trek over to play a little golf this past weekend. We played the meadow and ranch courses which meant a lot of water a bunch of lost balls but damn it was fun being out on the course! The course was in great shape and the greens were fast and basically un-puttable for my lack of talent with a golf club.
We talked to one of the marshals and he informed us that the club will try to stay open until October 15th weather and snow permitting. I have now golfed Pole Creek every month that they are open and I would have to say September is the best month for golf up in Grand County by far. So head on out and get your golfing in before we are soon covered in snow.
Tuesday, August 4th, Pole Creek is offering discounted golf to celebrate the new clubhouse. If you make your tee time between 8am and 1pm, you play for $50. If you book it after 1pm, you pay only $35. All rates include a cart and practice balls. Make your reservations fast. At these great rates the tee sheet will fill up quickly. Call Pole Creek for tee times, 970 887 9195.
We’ve got some new info about Bistro 28, the new restaurant at Pole Creek Golf Course. I wonder if it’s named that to imply that it’s the 28th “hole” at 27-hole Pole Creek Golf course. Just speculating. Anyways, Bistro 28 is open daily for breakfast and lunch and as of this week they are now open for dinner from Thursday through Saturday from 5:30 to 9pm.
Their dinner menu looks very enticing, with a Bourbon Rib Eye, Char Sui Duck, Lavender Lamb and other delicious dinners. I can’t wait to try the Creamy Trout, a fresh trout fillet over braised garlic spinach and ch
ardonnay dill beurre blanc, sounds amazing. They’ll also serve prime rib on Friday evenings.
For breakfast, you can get an omelet, a breakfast burrito, or pancakes and for lunch you can choose from Kobe beef sliders, fish tacos, Angus beef burger, a Thai satay wrap and a lot more. Plus, they serve brunch every Sunday with three types of eggs benedicts, waffles and omelets.
There’s more…. they have a full bar and wine list and happy hour from 4-6pm on Mon-Thurs. With all they have to offer, you may end up spending the entire day golfing and enjoying the new Bistro 28 at Pole Creek Golf Course.
Their style is described as ”featuring hearty Colorado cuisine with an Asian influence”. Another appeal to Bistro 28 is that they use locally grown and organic options whenever possible. And, to top it off, the views are claimed to be the best in the entire valley, and though I haven’t been there yet, I believe it. I love taking a scenic drive on County Road 5, where Pole Creek is located, to enjoy lush rolling hills and the panoramic views of the mountains. All in all, I am very impressed with all that I’ve heard and will be trying it out really soon.
Pole Creek Golf Course has a brand new clubhouse plus a new restaurant, Bistro 28, open for breakfast, lunch and a bar menu in the evening. Happy Hour is Monday thru Thursday from 4pm – 6pm. We will try it out and write a review soon. Until then, get over there and let us know what YOU think!
